Application fees and fee waivers

The base fee of $ 60 * entitles you to apply to one campus. If applied to more than one campus, you have to pay an additional $ 60 * for each school you select. These fees are not refundable. You must submit your fee with the application or the application will be processed.
  The University will waive application fees for up to four campuses to help students for whom the payment is a barrier to the application to the University. Competitive at Berkeley Admission


  All programs at Berkeley received more applications than they can accept. For fall 2007, Berkeley admitted 9,050 of 36,870, or about 25 percent of freshman applicants, and 949 of 4703, or 20 per cent, of applicants for transfer. Therefore, to gain admission to Berkeley, you must present an academic profile much stronger than that represented by the admission of California minimum requirements of the University. Admission as a freshman

Berkeley believes that an applicant for a freshman if you are currently enrolled in grade 12 or have graduated from high school and have not enrolled in a regular session at any college or university after graduating from high school. If you attended a summer session immediately after graduating from high school, you're still a freshman applicant.
 

 Compulsory Subject

  Scholarship Requirement defines the grade point average (GPA) must win in the "ag" subjects and test results must achieve to be eligible for admission to UC. The University uses an Eligibility Index, a combination of test scores and GPA to determine compliance with this requirement.
  To determine your eligibility, the University calculates your GPA in "ag" subjects by assigning point values ​​to the ratings they win, score the points and dividing the total by the number of "ag" courses. The University calculates the total UC level as follows:

Mandatory testing

Eligibility in the Local Context - Under the Eligibility in the Local Context (ELC) pathway, four percent of participating students in each California high school are designated eligible and guaranteed admission to one of UC's eight general campuses UC.

To be considered for ELC, you must complete 11 specific units of the obligation to respect by the end of their junior year. With the assistance of each participating school, the University will determine the four percent of students on the basis of GPA in required courses.

 ELC students are guaranteed a place in one of eight undergraduate UC campuses, though not necessarily their first choice campus.

 

Eligibility by Examination Alone "You can qualify for admission to the University by earning high scores on the ACT more.

 

ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAMS

 

Academic Achievement Programs (AAP) is a student services department, which promotes academic excellence among students of the University of California at Berkeley. AAP is working with students, faculty and professional staff to provide comprehensive academic and academic support services. AAP students represent a diverse group of experts and leaders. Our office serves students from low-income families, students whose parents did not graduate from college, and / or students from underrepresented groups.
 

One of the primary objectives AAP is to provide academic support services to prepare students to go beyond their bachelor's degree and continue to get advanced degrees. AAP services include research grants to faculty and courses for credit in coordination with academic departments. AAP provide counseling, mentoring, tutoring and academic workshops and seminars, which are essential components for student success. AAP also sponsors a national research symposium, in which selected scholars present their research. The scholars publish their work in a research journal sponsored by the AAP. These activities give students the opportunity to participate in the Berkeley tradition of excellence in research.

 

AAP operates within the Division of Undergraduate Education and is funded by grants, private donors and the support of the university.

 

TYPES OF GRANTS:


 Student Support Services Scholars Academy

 Student Support Services (SSS) Scholars Academy activities include academic advising, finacial literacy, prep school graduate or professional courses for academic credit, writing and learning skills workshops and personal counseling. This program helps low-income and first generation students. In SSS, a smaller group of freshmen and sophomores, received a small amount of Pell Grant funds to offset their student loans.


 McNair Scholars Program

 Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program prepares selected students from Berkeley for graduate studies at the doctoral level. Each year, 20-30 McNair scholars have the opportunity to develop a close relationship with your faculty mentor to publish their research in the Berkeley McNair Journal, to present their research results at a national symposium, and for assistance to ensure admission to graduate programs. Scholars participate in two academic years and summer activities and receive a stipend for their summer research.


 Miller Scholarship Program

 The George A. Miller Scholars Program is designed to provide first ten low-income generation and the community college students transfer to a two-year fellowship and a research / community service stipend. Scholars are selected based on several criteria, including demonstrated academic excellence, leadership potential and commitment to community service. During the academic year, George A. Miller, recipients receive training and support to design a summer project faculty-mentor of the participation either original or community service project.


 Posse Scholarship Program

The Posse Foundation identifies public high school students with outstanding academic and leadership potential that can be overlooked by traditional selection processes of the university. Posse Scholars who are admitted by the University of Berkeley was awarded a four-year leadership scholarship full tuition. Posse Scholars graduate at a rate of 90 percent and make a visible difference in school and throughout his career.

 

Undergraduate Program


 The highly competitive two-year Haas Undergraduate Program accepts applications for transfer applicants and then UC Berkeley. The program's goal is to provide students with the knowledge and technical skills necessary for understanding the modern business world, to prepare for post-graduate studies, and achieve the highest levels of success in their careers. Students earn a bachelor of science which has a general management perspective.
